Old School Maple sub surface swimmer. Not a AYC Danny like everyone elses Danny style. The great plug builders of yesteryear mainly used Pine,Birch and Maple be it Hard or Soft Maple. Pine was used for poppers and plugs that should swim on the surface. They would make full face Danny styles out of heavy Maple to get it down. I full face Danny acts much different than a sloped Danny style like my “Lil Killah” below the surface. A slope head should swim tight,but a Maple full face will give you that same rolling waggle,but its below the surface. As much as I enjoy top water action most of my fish are taken with lures used below the surface. Offered in some old colors that are not common today,but still catch. Step back in time and try the Maple Hughey Danny.

Maybe get your self a pipe and some black cherry tobacco since you are going to fish Old School! Hell buy a old Squidder and fill it with mono and put it on a glass blank too!
